Allowed

“allowed” 说明规则或权威许可某行为,也可指客观条件允许,如 “smoking is not allowed”。被动结构突出禁令或授权。

  1. “Phones are not allowed during the exam.” (考试期间禁止使用手机。)
  2. “Her parents allowed her to stay out until ten.” (父母准许她在外面待到十点。)
  3. “The budget allowed only a small marketing campaign.” (预算只允许开展一场小型营销活动。)

“allow” 源自古法语 alouer(赞扬、分配),与拉丁语 allaudare 相关;现代义“准许”在英语中稳定下来,过去式加 -ed。
