Conditions

“conditions” 可指天气与路况、合同条款、社会处境,也可指疾病或身体状况。单数 condition 更强调单一状态,复数常暗示多项因素并存。

  1. “Driving conditions were dangerous because of the ice.” (路面结冰,驾驶条件很危险。)
  2. “The contract spells out the payment conditions clearly.” (合同清楚列明了付款条件。)
  3. “The factory improved safety conditions after the inspection.” (检查过后,工厂改善了安全条件。)

“condition” 源自拉丁语 condicio(约定、情形),经由古法语进入英语;复数强调多种条款或环境因素。
