Cried
(She cried when she heard the news);也可指大声喊叫(He cried for help)或公开主张(cried foul 表示抗议不公)。
- “The baby cried all night and kept everyone awake.”
- “She cried out his name when she saw him in the crowd.”
- “They cried victory as the final whistle blew.”
cry 为不规则动词:cry → cried → cried;-ed 在此接在辅音 y 变 i 之后(拼写规则:辅音+y 结尾动词变过去式时 y 变 i)。
习语 far cry from(与……
- 固定搭配: “cried out loud” (大声喊/哭), “cried over” (为……
“When the letter arrived, she cried quietly at the kitchen table, then called her sister to share the news.”
