Forgot

“Forgot” 是 forget 的过去式,指过去某一时刻未能想起或未能做该做的事,如 “I forgot my password.”(我忘了密码。)口语里也可表示“疏忽、漏做”,语气常带歉意或懊恼。

  1. “She forgot to lock the door before leaving.” (她出门前忘了锁门。)
  2. “He forgot her name the moment they were introduced.” (他们刚介绍完,他就忘了她的名字。)
  3. “Don’t worry—I forgot about the meeting too.” (别担心,我也忘了那场会议。)

“Forget” 来自古英语 forgietan,由 for-(离开、相反)与 gietan(抓住、持有)构成,字面义接近“让记忆溜走”。

for-(离开)+ get(抓住)→ forgot 为不规则过去式;过去分词 forgotten;名词 forgetfulness。

道歉时常用 “Sorry, I forgot.”;科技语境 “forgot password” 是高频界面用语;与 “I didn’t remember” 相比,forgot 更强调“当时没想起来”这一结果。
