用于叙述已发生的肢体冲突、战争或体育对抗;也可比喻为与疾病、偏见、贫困等作斗争。不规则变化:fight → fought → fought。
- “They fought bravely until reinforcements arrived.” (他们英勇作战直到援军赶到。)
- “She has fought for equal pay for over a decade.” (十多年来她一直在为同工同酬而斗争。)

源自古英语 feohtan(战斗),与德语 fechten 等同源,现代过去式 fought 保留了古英语强变化形式。
