Getting

“Getting” 延续 “get” 的多义性:表示获得物品、进入某种状态、理解信息或接近某地;口语里 “getting better” 也很常见。

  1. “She is getting ready for the interview.” (她正在为面试做准备。)
  2. “I’m getting the hang of this app.” (我渐渐掌握这个应用了。)
  3. “Traffic is getting worse every year.” (交通每年都变得更糟。)

“Get” 源自古诺斯语 “geta”(获得),进入中古英语后意义扩展;“getting” 通过 “-ing” 标记进行体或名词化。

词干 “get” + “-ing”,无额外前缀。

美式口语里 “How’s it going?” 与 “getting along” 都体现关系或进展;英式英语里 “I’ve got” 与 “getting” 常并存。

  • 固定搭配: “getting started” (入门/开始), “getting along” (相处)

把 “get” 想成伸手抓取,“getting” 就是手一直没停:持续在“拿到/达到”。

“Without glasses, he was getting headaches from the screen glare.” (不戴眼镜时,他因为屏幕反光而开始头疼。)
