Gone

“Gone” 常与 have/has 连用表示完成的离开或状态变化;也可描述资源耗尽、机会错过。作前置形容词时如 “a gone era” 较文学化,日常更常见 “the milk is gone”。

  1. “By the time we arrived, the guests had gone.” (我们到时,客人已经走了。)
  2. “All the tickets are gone within minutes.” (几分钟内票就全部售罄了。)
  3. “She felt as if her strength was gone after the long run.” (长跑之后,她觉得自己力气都没了。)

“go” 来自古英语 gān,与日耳曼语族多个表示“行走、去”的动词相关,历史演变复杂。

“gone” 是不规则过去分词,与 went(过去式)形态不同,无常规词缀可拆。

口语里 “I’m gone” 可表示“我要走了”;歌曲与诗歌里 “gone” 常承载失落与怀念。注意 gone 与 been 在完成体里的细微差别:been 强调经历,gone 强调离开不在。

  • 固定搭配: “gone wrong” (出问题), “long gone” (早已不在)

gone 中间一个 o:人“走成零”,现场空了。
