Growing

描述体积、数量或程度的持续增加:plants growing(植物生长)、growing demand(需求增长)、growing tired(渐渐疲倦)。强调过程而非瞬间结果。

  1. “Tomatoes need sunlight while they are growing.” (番茄生长时需要阳光。)
  2. “There is a growing interest in remote work.” (人们对远程工作的兴趣日益增加。)

“grow” 源自古英语 grōwan,与德语 wachsen 同属日耳曼语族,本义为“变大、变多”。

grow + -ing;形容词 growing pains 字面指“生长痛”,引申为发展阶段的阵痛。
