Happened
“Happened” 描述事件在过去出现或进行；也可表示偶然：“happened to meet” 指碰巧遇见。叙事里用来交代时间线上的事实，语气中性。
- “Nobody could explain what happened last night.” (没人说清昨晚发生了什么。)
- “I happened to see your message on my way out.” (我出门时碰巧看到你的信息。)
- “The changes happened faster than anyone expected.” (变化发生得比任何人都快。)
“happen” 来自古北欧语 happ（运气、机缘）加动词后缀 -en，原义偏“以某种方式降临”，后泛化为“发生”。
“happened” 是 happen 加规则过去式后缀 -ed，双写 n 以保持重读闭音节。
新闻报道常用 “what happened” 追问事实；口语 “as it happened” 表示“结果恰好”。安慰他人时 “These things happen” 是缓和语气的套语。
