Minutes
最常见义是时间单位“分钟”。另一常见义是会议纪要（常大写 “Minutes”）。口语里 “just a few minutes” 表示很短时间。
- “Boil the pasta for eight minutes, then drain it.” (把意面煮八分钟，然后沥干。)
- “The secretary emailed the board minutes after the meeting.” (秘书在会后把董事会纪要发给了大家。)
- “We only have a few minutes before the doors close.” (门关之前我们只有几分钟了。)
时间义来自拉丁语 “minutus”（微小的），指更小的时间刻度；会议义源自拉丁语 “minuta”（摘要）。
词尾 “-s” 为复数；时间义与“微小划分”相关，无现代英语前缀。
职场与医疗场景里 “wait fifteen minutes” 极常见；公司治理文件里 “approve the minutes” 表示通过会议记录。

把一分钟想成表盘上最小一格跳动，“minutes” 就是许多格连在一起。
