Relating
正式文本 “documents relating to the case” 即“与案件相关的文件”。心理或社交语境 relating to others 指与他人建立联系。动词 relate 的 -ing 形式也可描述正在讲述经历。
- “Please send any emails relating to the contract.” (请发送与合同相关的所有邮件。)
- “The chapter is about relating to conflict at work.” (这一章讲工作中如何处理人际冲突。)
- “She spent the evening relating stories from her travels.” (她整晚讲述旅行见闻。)
“Relate” 来自拉丁语 relatus（带回、叙述），re-（回）+ latus（携带），与 translate 中的 lat 同源。
re- + late（携带）→ relate + -ing；名词 relation、relationship。
法律 “facts relating to the charge” 为固定公文用语；心理学 “relating skills” 指共情沟通；会议 “issues relating to budget” 列入议程。
- 固定搭配: “relating to” (与……有关), “relating experiences” (讲述经历), “relating well” (相处融洽)
relate 是“联系起来”，relating to 就是“正在与某主题连在一起”。
