Remaining

常见于 remaining time(剩余时间)、remaining questions(尚待解决的问题)、the remaining members(其余成员)。

  1. “We have only ten minutes of remaining battery life.”
  2. “The remaining tickets will go on sale tomorrow.”
  3. “She answered the remaining emails before logging off.”

re- + main(停留)+ -ing(形容词化/分词)→ remaining。

  • 固定搭配: “remaining time” (剩余时间), “remaining balance” (余额), “time remaining” (所剩时间)

re(还在)+ main(main 主线还在)→ 还留在场上的,就是 remaining

“With one remaining puzzle piece, the picture of the lighthouse finally made sense.”
