Remaining
常见于 remaining time(剩余时间)、remaining questions(尚待解决的问题)、the remaining members(其余成员)。
- “We have only ten minutes of remaining battery life.”
- “The remaining tickets will go on sale tomorrow.”
- “She answered the remaining emails before logging off.”
re- + main(停留)+ -ing(形容词化/分词)→ remaining。
- 固定搭配: “remaining time” (剩余时间), “remaining balance” (余额), “time remaining” (所剩时间)
re(还在)+ main(main 主线还在)→ 还留在场上的,就是 remaining。
“With one remaining puzzle piece, the picture of the lighthouse finally made sense.”
