Spent

核心用法是消耗资源:钱、时间、精力。也可形容人“精疲力竭”(“she looked spent”)。被动 “spent on” 引出用途或去向。

  1. “We spent the weekend hiking in the hills.” (我们在山里徒步度过了周末。)
  2. “Half the budget was spent on marketing.” (一半预算花在了市场营销上。)
  3. “After the marathon, he was completely spent.” (马拉松之后,他彻底累垮了。)

“Spend” 源自古英语 “for-spendan”(浪费、耗尽),与拉丁语 “expendere”(支付)在语义上汇流,形成现代“花费”概念。

不规则动词 “spend - spent - spent”,无派生前缀;形容词用法可视为过去分词作定语。

消费主义讨论里,“spent” 常与信用卡账单、时间管理等话题相连;文学里形容人 “spent” 带有疲惫、燃尽的诗意。

  • 固定搭配: “spent fuel” (乏燃料), “time well spent” (时间花得值)

钱包被 “spend” 之后变扁,就像能量被抽空——“spent” 就是“已经被掏过一轮”。
