Succeeded

“succeed in doing” 指做成某事;“succeed someone as …”

  1. “She succeeded in passing the exam on her second try.”
  2. “He succeeded his father as chair of the board.”
  3. “The startup succeeded where larger rivals failed.”

“succeed” 来自拉丁语 succedere(sub- 在下 + cedere 走),原义“接续、跟上”,后引申为“成功、继承”。

传记 “He succeeded against the odds” 强调逆境成功;王室 “succeeded to the throne” 指继承王位;职场 “succeeded the outgoing CEO” 报道人事更迭。

  • 固定搭配: “succeeded in” (成功做), “succeeded to” (继承), “succeeded where” (在……

“The team succeeded after months of late-night practice.”
