Supposed
“Supposed” 来自 suppose(假定、认为)。作形容词时,be supposed to 表示“应该(做某事)”或“被期望”;也可表示“所谓的、据说的”,有时带怀疑语气,例如 “You’re supposed to be here at nine.”(你应该九点到这里。)
- “The train is supposed to arrive at noon.”
- “You’re not supposed to use your phone in class.”
- “This is the supposed reason for the delay.”
“Suppose” 源自拉丁语 supponere(放在下面、假设),由 sub-(在下)与 ponere(放置)构成。
- 固定搭配: “be supposed to” (应该), “supposed expert” (所谓的专家)
“We were supposed to meet at the café, but the rain changed everyone’s plans.”
