Takes
主语为第三人称单数时，take 变为 takes：可指拿走、搭乘、花费时间、录制镜头、理解方式（how she takes it）等。具体义由宾语与搭配决定。
- “The bus takes about forty minutes at rush hour.” (高峰时段这趟公交大约要四十分钟。)
- “He always takes notes during lectures.” (他上课时总是记笔记。)
- “It takes courage to admit a mistake in public.” (当众认错需要勇气。)
“take” 来自古北欧语 taka，取代了许多古英语表示“拿”的动词，在中古英语中稳固下来。
“takes” 是 take 加第三人称单数 -s，词尾发音 /s/。
电影片场 “takes” 也指一条镜头：“in two takes” 表示两条就过。日常 “it takes two to tango” 表示双方都有责任。

takes 与 cakes 押韵：派对上“拿走”蛋糕的人，动作就是 takes a slice。
