Watching

强调持续注视或监控:看电视、看比赛、看守门口。与 “seeing” 相比,更突出“盯着、关注过程”。动名词可作主语:“Watching ads wastes time.”

  1. “The kids are watching cartoons in the living room.” (孩子们在客厅看卡通。)
  2. “Security staff spent the night watching the cameras.” (安保人员整夜盯着监控画面。)
  3. “Watching the tide come in calmed her thoughts.” (看着涨潮让她的思绪平静下来。)

“Watch” 源自古英语 “wæccan”(保持清醒、守夜),与警觉、值守的语义相关,后引申为“注视”。

“-ing” 构成进行时或动名词;无额外前缀。短语 “watching out for” 表示提防。

流媒体时代 “binge-watching” 成为固定表达;体育酒吧里 “watching the game” 是典型的社交场景。
